Terms of Use

These terms cover the Pitfix Diagnose and Pitfix Coding apps and this website. By using them, you agree to these terms.

The short version

  • Pitfix reads and changes the software settings of your car. You decide what to change, and you use it at your own risk.
  • Check that every change is legal where you drive, and keep your car safe to drive.
  • AI reports and repair prices are guidance, not professional advice.
  • We are not responsible for damage, costs or losses that come from using Pitfix, as far as the law allows.

What Pitfix is

Pitfix connects to your car through an OBD2 adapter you choose. It can read fault codes and live data, run service functions and change settings in the car's control units. What works depends on your car, its software and your adapter.

Pitfix is not made, approved or supported by BMW AG. BMW and MINI are trademarks of BMW AG.

Your responsibility

Clearing faults, running service functions and coding change the software in your car. This can cause warning lights, functions that stop working, problems at a dealer or inspection, or the loss of a warranty claim. Before you write a change, it is up to you to:

  • Make sure the change is allowed by the law and insurance rules where you drive. Some settings, like video while driving or lighting changes, are not allowed in every country.
  • Follow the steps the app shows: ignition on, a healthy battery or a charger, and no interruptions while it writes.
  • Never use the app in a way that distracts you while driving.
  • Have a qualified mechanic look at any fault that affects safety, like brakes, airbags or steering.

Backups help you go back, but we can't promise that every change can be undone on every car.

AI features and estimates

The AI Health Check, the AI Coding Assistant and repair price estimates are made automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Use them as a starting point, not as a diagnosis, a quote or professional advice.

Purchases

Plans are bought in the app through Apple or Google, and their terms and refund rules apply. A plan unlocks its features in that app for as long as we offer it. Features can differ from car to car, and we may change or improve them over time.

No warranty

Pitfix is provided as it is. We don't promise that it works with every car or adapter, that it is free of errors or that it is always available.

Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for damage to your car or other property, repair or towing costs, lost data, lost time or any indirect loss that comes from using or not being able to use Pitfix. If we are liable anyway, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer that the law does not allow us to limit, or our liability for intent, gross negligence or injury to a person.

Fair use

Don't copy, resell, reverse engineer or misuse the apps or their services, and don't use them to break the law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Pitfix after a change, the new terms apply.
