Know your BMW.
Then make it yours.
BMW diagnostic and coding apps for iPhone and Android. Read fault codes and unlock hidden features on your BMW or MINI.
Two apps, one adapter.
Start with the one you need: the diagnostic app to find out what is wrong, or the coding app to change how your car behaves. Both use the same adapter and the same connection, so adding the other later takes a minute.
Pitfix Diagnose
Find out what's wrong, before the garage does.
- Read and clear fault codes in every control unit
- AI Health Check explains faults in plain words, with the usual repair cost
- Live engine data and car-style gauges
- Workshop jobs: DPF regeneration, battery registration, service reset
Pitfix Coding
Unlock what your BMW can do.
- Auto Start Stop off by default, brighter welcome lights, video while driving
- Fold the mirrors when you lock the car
- Undo any change with one tap
- AI Coding Assistant: say what you want, in plain words
Connected in three steps.
Set up once. After that, the app connects by itself.
Plug the adapter in
The OBD2 port is under the dashboard, left of the steering wheel, near your knee. Push until it clicks. A light on the adapter comes on.
Switch the ignition on
Press Start without pressing the brake pedal. The engine can stay off.
Open the app
Pitfix finds the adapter by itself and picks the right settings for it. There is nothing to choose and no pairing code to type on iPhone.
Which OBD2 adapter to use.
Works with most OBD2 adapters for BMW. Already have one? Try it out.
Bluetooth
The easiest choice. Stays plugged in, connects when you open the app. Works on iPhone and Android.
Wi-Fi
Your phone joins the adapter's own network. A good choice for older Android phones with weak Bluetooth.
Cable
An ENET or USB cable is the most reliable for long coding sessions, and the only option for some control units on newer cars.
Cheap adapters can read but not always code. Many low-cost adapters can't reach the headunit or the instrument cluster on newer cars. Pitfix shows which control units your adapter can change before you start.
Made for BMW and MINI.
Pitfix checks your car when it connects and only shows what your car supports. Some features depend on the generation.
| E series | About 2004 to 2013, like the E90 3 Series. Faults, live data and service jobs. Fewer coding options. |
|---|---|
| F series | About 2011 to 2019, like the F30 3 Series. Almost every feature. |
| G series | About 2017 and newer, like the G20 3 Series. Almost every feature. |
| U series | 2022 and newer. Faults, live data and coding. No service reset yet. |
| MINI | The same generations as the BMW they are built on, like the R56 and F56 Cooper. |
Questions owners ask.
Can Pitfix damage my car?
Reading faults and live data changes nothing in the car. Before Pitfix Coding writes a change, it saves a backup of the control unit and checks the battery voltage. If a write is interrupted, you can restore the control unit from that backup.
Do I need both apps?
No. Diagnose is for finding out what's wrong and doing service jobs. Coding is for changing how the car behaves. Most owners start with one and add the other later.
Will it work on my car?
Pitfix supports BMW and MINI from about 2004 onwards. Open the app with the demo car to see what's available, or connect your car for free to see the exact list.
Does Pitfix work on Android?
Yes. Both apps work on iPhone and Android, with the same adapters.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep it for life, on every car you own. Reading faults, live data and browsing settings is free.
Can I leave the adapter plugged in?
Most Bluetooth adapters go to sleep when the car is locked. If your car will stand for weeks, unplug it to protect the battery.
Try it on the demo car first.
Both apps include a demo car, so you can look around before you buy an adapter.
Free to download. Reading data is free. Changes to the car need a one-time purchase.
